Birds of Poona, Queeensland

Poona offers so much for our visitors and particularly to the bird enthusiasts with many walking trails to see the wide range of birds of the area. Of note are the birds of prey, kingfishers, parrots, water birds and migratory birds with the latter very much a feature in Poona given it is part of the world recognised Ramsar Wetlands.

You can use this page to assist in identifying the various species by clicking on the below buttons. The photography is that of dedicated local bird enthusiasts Dr John Price, Judy Sumner and Ellen Watherston.

The birds are categorised in the following sections. Click on the buttons to see the birds. You can 'right click' on an image and select 'open in new tab' to view a larger image of the particular bird.

As another option, this webpage can be downloaded as a PDF. However, the links within the document will not function and so too the pictures are of a lower resolution than that available as a PDF on the page with the eBook options. For the simple PDF click here.
